Fans of The Last of Us can rejoice as the show’s second season has announced it will be filming in Vancouver, setting the stage for an exciting new narrative that should excite keen fans. The popular HBO drama, inspired by the 2013 video game, follows Joel, played by Pedro Pascal, as he protects 14-year-old Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, in a post-apocalyptic world following a global pandemic. The second season will focus on adapting the story of the video game’s Part II, which takes place in Seattle, Washington, a mere three-hour drive from Vancouver, Deadline reports on 3/31.
While HBO has not yet shared any details about the upcoming storyline or production schedule, showrunner Craig Mazin has indicated that there is more to the story beyond just one more season of television. Mazin said in a previous interview that the amount of story left to tell after season 2 would be more than a season of television. This means that fans can expect to see more of The Last of Us in the future, although the show is not expected to last for seven seasons.
One exciting development for the second season is the change in location. Vancouver is a popular location for many TV shows and movies due to the country’s tax breaks and abundant production industry. However, fans of the video game will be excited to see that the Pacific Northwest, where much of Part II’s story takes place, will be portrayed in the show’s new location.
