Dan reportedly met Andrea while they were both attending Seton Hall University. Since then, the couple has been going strong.

Andrea Patricia Sirakides Hurley was born on December 11, 1976 in Toms River, New Jersey. Born to Ken and Patti Klotz Sirakdes, Andrea was pretty close to her parents. Unfortunately, Ken Siraides passed away on August 16, 2005. On the other hand, Andrea’s mom, Patti currently works as a radiation therapist at Jersey Shore University Medical Center. Andrea would go on to attend Seton Hall University, where she met her eventual husband Dan.

After graduating from Seton Hall University, the couple eventually tied the knot at a private ceremony in Shadowbrook, Shrewsbury in 1997. Around the same time, Dan was still trying to prove himself in the coaching ranks by serving as an assistant coach to St. Anthony High School and Rutgers University. With Dan still trying to hone his coaching chops, as per eCelebrity Mirror, he looked for someone to have a deep connection with, which came in the form of Andrea.

Fast forward to today, the married couple already have two sons together in Danny and Andrew. The older one, Danny Jr., studied in the same alma mater as his parents in Seton Hall University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in history and a Master’s degree in Public Administration. According to his LinkedIn account, Danny works as an assistant to the office of the governor in the state of New Jersey. On the other hand, Andrew plays for the University of Connecticut Huskies, while being coached by his father.

Nevertheless, Andrea often took Dan’s career seriously by avoiding coaches’ fellow partners, due to the competitive nature of college basketball coaching. In an interview with the New York Post, she said:

“It’s so easy to not like your opponent’s wife. Their team can cause you major anxiety — especially if you lose, it can turn your household’s mood to s – – t.”

But while this was Andrea’s original practice, that changed when she met the wife of University of Massachusetts basketball head coach Derek Kellogg, Nicole Kellogg. After meeting Nicole, Andrea realized that despite being on opposite ends, they also had a lot of things in common. In the same interview, Andrea added:

“We’re all in the same boat. Coaching is such a brutal, cut-throat job, and I had so many questions about things like how to approach team losses, dealing with nasty fans on social media and acting as a second mother to young players. Nicole said to me, ‘We need to start a podcast.’”

With the help of Nicole, Andrea launched the popular podcast called Ball is Wife. The podcast tackles what it’s like when a wives’ better haves are deeply engaged in sports with the hopes of finding fellow wives who can relate to the arduous journey. As of this writing, the podcast can be streamed on Spotify and Apple.

The podcast will see interviews with various wives of coaches in the sports world. Furthermore, Andrea also hopes to get in touch with the wives and mothers of professional players. But while the podcast has often focused on wives, Andrea is also open to extending the podcast guest list to husbands as well.

But while being a wife and mother in sports, Andrea admits she still enjoys it, despite having the tough task of supporting her loved ones engaged in the grueling sports nature. In fact, one of her favorite perks is being able to serve as a mother figure to her husband’s players, some of whom are playing far away from their families. During the interview, Andrea admitted:

“The players are honestly my favorite part. They’re other people’s kids, and they are away from home, so they need to know that someone is there for them.”

Despite being busy with their respective careers, it seems like both Dan and Andrea continue to find time for each other and the family. According to Andrea’s Instagram account, the family often spends their time together at the beach, football games, traveling, hiking, swimming, fishing, and many others.
