The Boston Celtics are playing on the second night of a back-to-back set on Friday following a very impressive demolition job on Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday. Jayson Tatum has already been cleared to play in Friday’s matchup against a shorthanded Utah Jazz side, which is obviously a massive development for Boston. It’s not all good news for the Celtics, though, with a handful of other players also popping up on the injury report ahead of Friday’s game.
Jaylen Brown, Al Horford, and Robert Williams were all included in Boston’s initial injury report. All three players were tagged as either questionable or doubtful to play, but eventually, Horford and Williams were later downgraded to out. The silver lining here is that Brown, who is dealing with some lower back discomfort, has also been cleared to play. As per usual, it’s going to be the Tatum and Brown show again at the TD Garden on Friday.
In other injury news, Payton Pritchard has also been upgraded to available after being initially listed as questionable to suit up against the Jazz. Danilo Gallinari, however, still has no timetable to return for the Celtics.
As for the Jazz, Lauri Markkanen will be sidelined again due to a left hand contusion. He will join Jordan Clarkson, Rudy Gay, and Collin Sexton on the sidelines. Former Celtic Kelly Olynyk, however, will be available for Utah.
The Celtics enter this game as the clear favorites as they look to keep their foot on the gas. They are now just two games behind the Bucks, with the No. 1 seed still well within reach for Boston.
