Calvin Johnson pulls off hilarious April Fools prank while promoting his CBD company

Let the shenanigans commence. There will inevitably be many trite, over-the-top and just plain weak April Fools’ Day pranks attempted all over the world. Hall of Fame wide receiver Calvin Johnson deserves some credit for the ingenuity he used for the classic NFL return fakeout.

Primitiv, which is a cannabis company Johsnon co-founded a few years ago, Tweeted out that the Detroit Lions legend would be coming out of retirement due to the healing effects of their CBD-based products. Johnson confirmed the “news” with his own post which succinctly said, “Let’s go!!!” There are multiple fan bases who wish the 37-year-old was serious.

There was a time when the whole NFL world was quietly waiting for such an announcement following a surprise retirement at age 30 in 2016. Nothing ever materialized, though, and the book of Megatron remained finished with all nine chapters coming in Detroit. Johnson was an All-Pro First-Team three times and consistently wowed fans with highlight reel catches. He had 12 touchdowns or more in four different seasons. His dominance can never be questioned, regardless of the duration.

Calvin Johnson has since sought out to conquer the cannabis industry, starting Primitiv in Michigan before expanding. His goal is to help people in their pain recovery process. Saturday, though, his goal, was merely to have some harmless fun while promoting his company. The elite wideout has proven himself to be quite the savvy business man.

Unfortunately, there were probably many Lions fans who twitched when they saw the Tweet. The franchise has only reached the playoffs once since Johnson decided to hang it up. Brighter days should be ahead, though.

Megatron seems just fine with football well in the rearview mirror.
